One size does not fit all when it comes to student learning. This webinar, led by Shanna Peeples, 2015 National Teacher of the Year, is based on her experience as a teacher in Title I middle and high schools, as well as her work with refugee students, English language learners, and students in remedial classes. Shanna encourages teachers to focus on achievement for students in humanizing and empowering ways.
Bringing together the various strands of differentiation, RTI, and other protocols, this session will help teachers and administrators create effective learning experiences for students. Presenter Bio
Shanna Peeples is the 2015 National Teacher of the Year. She is an English teacher and instructional coach at Palo Duro High School in Amarillo, Texas. In her classroom students actively practice critical thinking and problem solving, collaboration, adaptability, initiative, communication, analysis, curiosity, and imagination. Shanna’s work as a literacy leader allows her to serve teachers from diverse backgrounds as a professional development provider by leading intensive writing institutes for K–12 teachers, as a presenter at state-level literacy conferences, and as a National Council of Teachers of English conference presenter. She believes teachers’ doors should say, “Come in, let’s learn, let’s hope, let’s begin dreaming.” Shanna holds an associate’s degree from Amarillo College, a bachelor’s degree in English from West Texas A&M University in Canyon, and a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Texas at Arlington.
