Your Voice Is Power Competition

Amazon Future Engineer and Georgia Tech have announced Your Voice Is Power 2022, a competition and learning experience that challenges students to remix music beats while learning to code. For the competition, students use EarSketch, a free online code editor developed at Georgia Tech, to compose a unique musical remix using songs from three top recording artists, including Pharrell Williams. Students may also participate in the EarSketch curriculum and experience how computer science, music, and entrepreneurship can advance racial equity.

No experience is necessary to participate in the competition. Students can compete with their class or on their own. A panel of industry professionals will judge submitted remixes based on quality of music, code, and messaging. Five students will each win a $5,000 scholarship or grant to start a business, and five teachers will each receive $1,000 for above and beyond instruction.

Deadlines: Round One of the competition opens on December 1, 2021, and closes on February 7, 2022; finalists will be announced in March 2022. Round Two starts on February 8, 2022, and closes on June 19, 2022; finalists will be announced in July 2022. The Grand Prize will be announced in August 2022.

Plus: Educators are invited to join a 90-minute online session to develop the mindsets and skills necessary to facilitate diversity, equity, and inclusion discussions with middle school and high school students.
