New Scientist is a popular weekly science and technology publication. The website, app (for iOS and Android), and print editions cover international news from a scientific standpoint and ask the big-picture questions about life, the Universe, and what it means to be human.
Founded in 1956 for “all those interested in scientific discovery and its social consequences,” the magazine has expanded to include newsletters, videos, podcasts, courses, and live events in the US, UK, and Australia, including New Scientist Live, a festival of science.
The features in every issue of New Scientist dive into the most interesting new developments—from artificial intelligence to climate change, from the latest innovations in health to the mysteries of quantum physics and the human mind. Recent features include “If the Moon changed to green cheese, what would be the consequences?” “How scientists created the first image of the Milky Way’s black hole,” and “The grand plan to create a periodic table of all animal intelligence.” Written by specialists in the field, the features present the latest developments in an accessible way; readers do not have to be an expert to enjoy them.
New Scientist also conducts virtual events and evening lectures throughout the year, where celebrated experts discuss the most interesting subjects from all branches of science. These events and one-day masterclasses help participants understand the world around them and discover new areas of interest.
Subscribers have access to all of the features on New Scientist’s website and app, so they can stay informed wherever they are. Subscription options are displayed on the website.
