Tool Identifying DEI-Related Language Patterns in Communications
The dei.ai language tool empowers users to learn real principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion through everyday communication. The tool identifies patterns in language to help users better understand how they communicate—and miscommunicate. Rather than simply searching and replacing terms, the app offers explanations and context to help users determine the best language for their intention and the impact they want to have on their audience.
The dei.ai app is free to add to Chrome. It can also be used with Slack to detect terms and phrases that may be disrespectful, demeaning, or misleading, as well as terms and phrases that demonstrate respect, empathy, and understanding. Additionally it explains why the original usage may be problematic and why the suggestion is more inclusive, clearer, or accurate, with sources. The app detects language related to mental health, disability, technology, gender, race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, age, appearance, behavior, socioeconomic status, science, environment, and more.
