STEM Sports provides turnkey K–8 supplemental curricula that use sports as the real-life application to drive STEM-based, hands-on learning in classrooms, afterschool programs, and camps across the United States. The program helps students develop critical thinking, collaboration, creative problem solving, and leadership skills that can be applied throughout their education and future careers.
Aligned with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and National Standards for K–12 Physical Education, the plug-and-play curriculum cultivates and promotes students’ STEM engagement and retention. STEM Sports Kits are available for Baseball, Basketball, BMX, Football, Lacrosse, Soccer, Softball, Tennis, and Volleyball. The program also includes an All-Star Kit, as well as two Multi-Sports Kits, including one for K–2.
Along with resources that accompany the individual kits, the website offers a STEM Sports Glossary and information on STEM Jobs in Sports, such as a biomechanics coach (science), replay official (technology), stadium/arena designer or architect (engineering), and sports statistical analyst (mathematics). The site also includes videos and exercises for Physical Activity at Home/School.
