Podcast Made by Teens Expressing Their Unique Perspectives on Life
This Teenage Life (TTL) podcast supports youth in connecting with themselves, each other, and caring adults through meaningful conversations around personally relevant topics not traditionally explored in middle school and high school classes. The podcast itself offers a model for how to have these kinds of conversations authentically, safely, and empathetically. A recent episode talks about friendship and some of the messiness that comes with being a teen trying to connect with others. Another episode discusses body image—the specific insecurities, the comments and comparisons that have helped foster those insecurities, and the practices that teens can develop to love their bodies just the way they are. Discussion and activity guides help listeners engage in similar dialogues. The guides, made collaboratively by teens and educators, include journaling prompts, conversation norms, facilitation notes, and original activities that can lead to a variety of storytelling projects—from zines to short films. Students can listen to the TTL episodes in their web browser, on Spotify, or on Apple Podcasts.
