Funding & Recognition
The D’Addario Music Foundation awards grants and product donations to programs that bring music into communities and schools, and get children playing instruments as early and frequently as possible.
Applicants should offer free or affordable instrument instruction, address a need in the community it serves, and provide frequent instruction whereby students are participating multiple times per week throughout the year, and for as many years as possible throughout their primary and secondary education. The foundation does not provide funding for short-term initiatives such as performances, masterclasses, festivals, workshops, concerts, summer camps, drum circles, or competitions. Additionally the foundation prefers not to fund the purchase of equipment or instruments.
Nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations and schools are eligible to apply; a Letter of Inquiry (LOI) is required as the first step. The average amount granted is approximately $2,500.
Deadlines: Letters of Inquiry are accepted on a rolling basis. If an LOI is approved, new applicants are invited to submit a full grant proposal. Proposals accepted for the October 15, 2022, deadline will receive a grant, if approved, at the earliest on February 1, 2023. Proposals accepted for the April 30, 2023, deadline will receive a grant, if approved, at the earliest on August 1, 2023.
