From marine sciences to engineering, environmental youth leadership organization EarthEcho International and United Technologies Corp. (UTC) are giving a new generation of aspiring professionals an exciting look into the real-world of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics careers through a series of livevirtual events. With a focus on women in STEM, a diverse group of 19 working scientists and engineers will share their insights and personal stories with students and afterschool programs through “Virtual Career Connections” as part of EarthEcho’s STEMExplore initiative. Sponsored by UTC, STEMExplore highlights relatable voices and life experiences to make STEM careers come alive through interactive videos, resources, and live events. The 19 STEMExplore mentors represent a broad range of professional and personal experiences, areas of expertise, and leading organizations operating in STEM fields today. The STEMExplore 2019 Virtual Career Connections kicked off on October 8 and will run through December 19; the full schedule and signup details are available on the EarthEcho International website.
The Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC) and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) invite middle school and high school students to join A Space for Us All, a virtual educational experience examining and building on the legacy of achievement, connection, and knowledge of African Americans at NASA.
Better Health in Action: From Classroom to Community is an initiative of global biopharmaceutical company Takeda and edtech company Discovery Education. The two companies have partnered to offer health equity and STEM education topics to students, educators, and families in grades 6–8, free of charge.
Students in grades 4 and above can go on a behind-the-scenes virtual tour from NASA’s Johnson Space Center and explore the Callisto technology experiment that is heading to the Moon during the Artemis mission.
