Juried Exhibition Celebrating Black Creativity

Applications are now open for the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry’s Black Creativity Juried Art Exhibition, the longest-running gallery of African American art in the nation. The museum is calling for adults and students to submit their work to be included among more than 100 pieces as part of the 50th annual celebration of Black Creativity. Works created in any medium are eligible, including Architecture + Design, Ceramics, Digital Art, Drawing, Mixed Media, Painting, Photography + Video, Print Media, Sculpture, and Textiles. All African American artists over the age of 18 are eligible to submit in the General Category. African American artists who are aged 18 or younger, or who are enrolled in grades 9–11 (or the equivalent), are eligible to submit in the Youth Category. Each artist may submit up to four original works for consideration. A panel of jurors will review and select the artwork to be exhibited and award the prizes. All artists whose work is featured in the 2020 Juried Art Exhibition will receive a certificate of recognition. In the General Category, the first-place winner will be awarded $3,000; second-place, $2,000; and third-place, $1,000. The first-place winner in the Youth Category will receive $500; second-place, $300; and third-place, $200. The General entry fee is $50, or $25 with student ID or other proof of educational status; entry in the Youth Category is free.
