Game Engaging Students in Ethical Decision-Making

Quandary, the award-winning nonprofit learning game has landed on students’ mobile phones. As Captain of a new human settlement on Planet Braxos, students in grades 5–8 can shape the future of a new civilization, while developing ethical reasoning skills.

When the people on planet Braxos cannot resolve their dilemmas, they turn to help from their Captain, who is challenged to settle disputes by considering facts, opinions, and solutions—and to shape the future of a new civilization.

Quandary engages students in ethical decision-making and develops skills that help them identify and resolve ethical issues in their own lives through an engaging story and gameplay. The game has no one right answer, just as in real life—but each action has consequences that affect the player, others in the community, and the planet Braxos.

The game was created by an award-winning team of experts across the fields of child development, social and emotional learning, and game design. The Learning Games Network partnered with scholars at Harvard University, Tufts University, and the MIT Education Arcade to design the game, which is produced by FableVision Studios. It is available as an app for iOS and Android devices. Cost: Free
