Framework for Invention Learning in the Real World

Through its ConnectUp initiative, Raytheon Technologies is helping shape the future of aerospace and defense by nurturing diverse talent. Raytheon Technologies’ Invention Connvention is a global K–12 invention education program that teaches student problem identification, problem-solving, entrepreneurship, and creativity skills, and builds confidence in invention, innovation, and entrepreneurship for life. Invention Convention programs happen at the school, local, regional, and national levels in the United States and a growing number of countries worldwide.

The K–12 Invention Convention curriculum and methods have been developed and put to the test by educators for more than 30 years. The curriculum follows a framework that uses the seven steps of the invention process: identifying, understanding, ideating, designing, building, testing, and communicating. It enables students to understand invention as it takes place in the real world every day.

The Raytheon Technologies Invention Convention US Nationals is a competition for K–12 students, who use critical thinking, entrepreneurship, creativity, and innovation to invent solutions to problems they see in their everyday lives.
