Extreme Redesign 3D Printing Challenge

Extreme Redesign is an annual 3D printing challenge created by Stratasys, Inc., which invites students worldwide to design an original piece of art, jewelry, or architecture, or to improve an existing design. This year Extreme Redesign features three categories: Engineering: Secondary Education (middle/high school students); Engineering: Post-Secondary (university, college, or post-secondary students); and Art, Jewelry & Architecture (students of any grade level). If a 3D printer is unavailable, individual students or teams can create and submit their design files in .STL format with a compelling description highlighting the design’s inspiration, meaning, and impact; images, renderings, videos, and screenshots of the design are encouraged. First-place winners will receive a $2,500 scholarship, and their instructors will get a demo 3D printer for limited-time classroom use. Second-place winners will receive a $1,000 scholarship. In addition, the National Coalition of Advanced Technology Centers (NCATC) will award a $1,000 scholarship to one winning entry in the engineering category. Post-secondary students from NCATC member schools will be eligible for this bonus prize. The top ten entrants will receive a 3D printed model of their design and a Stratasys apparel item valued at up to $50.
