Plotagon allows anyone to create a cartoon-style movie with acting and spoken scripting. Students can start by viewing other videos and commenting on them, or they can begin making their own videos by selecting the camera icon.
Students build their movie by choosing the scene, adding characters, writing or recording dialogue, and then choosing music or sound effects to add to the scene. They can even have the characters act out actions and emotions. A helpful example plot is available to guide students as they build their characters and story.
Plotagon is available as an app for iOS and Android, as well as a desktop app (Windows format), so students can use it on devices at their educational institution, as well as on their own smartphones and tablets.
Costs: Plotagon offers a free, month-long trial. The education price tier is $27 per year or $3 per month.
Genially is, at its core, a slide presentation tool, and although many such tools are available, this one stands out by making its creations interactive. Rather than flipping through a slideshow, students become more engaged with the content, so they are actively learning as they progress through the presentation.
