Award for Innovative Economic Teaching

Each year the Council for Economic Education (CEE) recognizes three national educators with the John Morton Excellence in the Teaching of Economics Awards. This award promotes excellence in economic education at K–12 by honoring inspirational teachers whose innovative teaching improves and stimulates economic understanding in and out of their classrooms and achieves results. CEE seeks applicants who develop students’ understanding of economics and their capability to make informed and responsible decisions that they will carry with them as they grow into successful and productive adults. The awards program is open to K–12 teachers of any subject (not just economics), who are members of EconEdLink (membership is free). Eligible teachers may nominate themselves or may be nominated by other teachers, department chairs, principals, superintendents, or CEE state affiliates. Awards will be given in three teaching categories: Elementary (kindergarten–grade 4), Middle/Junior High (grades 5–8), and High School (grades 9–12). All awardees will receive $1,000 in cash, plus an all-expenses-paid scholarship to attend CEE’s 56th Annual Financial Literacy and Economic Education Conference in Brooklyn, New York, October 6–7, 2017.

Deadline: June 30, 2017, for nominations
