Award in Recognition of Innovative Teaching
The National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) LatinX Caucus is offering two awards sponsored by Laura Muñoz, CEO S-Mart. The Nuestra Gente Award of $500 recognizes a Latinx graduate student or junior faculty (first three years) to support his or her continued education and research agenda, which must align with that of the NCTE Rainbow Strand, reflecting the cultural and linguistic diversity of the nation. The Excelencia in Teaching Scholarship of $1,000 will be awarded to a Latinx K–12 educator who is an example of excellence in teaching and demonstrates innovative approaches in education. The scholarship is to help cover the cost of registration and travel to participate in the NCTE Annual Conference.
Deadline: July 15, 2017, for applications

REALM is designed to encourage all schools to develop literary magazines that celebrate the art and craft of writing.
Summer Children’s Lit Book Club for K–8 Teachers
The BookmarkED 2023 Book Club is a one-of-a-kind online experience bringing together authors and artists with K–12 teachers to explore literacy in a whole new way. The event will be held from July 1 to 22, 2023, and everything is online in a user-friendly community platform.
