Each month we publish blogs and several newsletters full of digital learning, funding, professional growth, social media, and STEM resources. Below are items from our blogs and newsletters that educators turned to the most in January.

1. NPR Student Podcast Challenge
NPR invites students around the country to create a podcast and then—with the help of a teacher—compete for a chance to win NPR's grand prize and have their work featured on national public radio. This contest is for teachers with students between grades 5 and 12. The winning podcast submissions will be featured in segments on NPR's Morning Edition or All Things Considered.

2. Directory of Diverse Books
We Read Too is a directory of hundreds of picture, chapter, middle grade, and young adult books written by authors of color featuring main characters of color. Teachers, students, librarians, or parents can freely download the directory on any iOS or Android device.

3. Educators of America MicroGrant Program
Educators of America are driven to not only supply teachers and educators with the classroom technology they need but also train them to use it in the most effective ways possible. Educators who are in need of an effective technology tool that will assist in bettering student achievement, not only in their classrooms but also throughout their entire institution, can apply for an Educators of America MicroGrant of between $250 and $5,000.

4. Teaching Tools for STEM Education
STEM Teaching Tools is a research-and-development initiative of the Institute for Science+Math Education at University of Washington in Seattle. The materials are provided for broad use and adaptation as open education resources (OER). Currently the focus is on supporting the teaching of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). The tools, called "practice briefs," focus on a specific issue and leverage the best knowledge from research and practice.

5. Virtual Reality Journey Through the Tomb of Nefertari
Students don’t need to pack their bags to step inside the tomb of Nefertari and bask in the story of its beautiful artistry, majestic history, fascinating construction, and mythology. They can head off on their adventure by downloading Nefertari: Journey to Eternity, a virtual reality experience that invites them to embark on an educational journey into one of the world&rsqup;s most stunning and mysterious locations.
